“This tour is very dangerous. Do not do it! It was 11 PM, completely dark. They put us in kayaks on the open sea. NO LIFE JACKETS, NO LIGHTS, NO REFLECTIVE GEAR, NO WHISTLE. If you fall in the water, no one can see you. No one can help. We had 8 kayaks. Only the guide had one headlamp. After 30 seconds, the guide stopped the tour. Waves and wind were too strong. And I’m glad he did! But this shows disregard for human life due to low safety standards. Even in calm cenotes, life jackets are required. Here? Nothing. At night. In the ocean. In the dark. Not worth…”

“Our family of 5 (3 teens and parents @ age 50) booked the 8am tour. It was fantastic and the absolute best way to see the mangroves. We have only kayaked once in our lives so we weren’t super experienced but it was not difficult. “Overall a good experience to learn about and see the bioluminescent algae! Tour guide was lovely and very knowledgable. We got picked up and taken to the beach near mosquito point, kayaked out to the split and then swam with the algae. One note to say would the taxi for 5 meant that 2 of us were in the trailer part of a golf cart - this was fine for us, but wouldn’t be for everyone! It was priced a little high for what you got for your money compared to other longer tours that include food, drinks etc.”
