“This tour is very dangerous. Do not do it! It was 11 PM, completely dark. They put us in kayaks on the open sea. NO LIFE JACKETS, NO LIGHTS, NO REFLECTIVE GEAR, NO WHISTLE. If you fall in the water, no one can see you. No one can help. We had 8 kayaks. Only the guide had one headlamp. After 30 seconds, the guide stopped the tour. Waves and wind were too strong. And I’m glad he did! But this shows disregard for human life due to low safety standards. Even in calm cenotes, life jackets are required. Here? Nothing. At night. In the ocean. In the dark. Not worth…”

This isn’t the guide’s fault and so on the way home the two guides kayaked us back in their ones which was very nice of them.”

“Our family of 5 (3 teens and parents @ age 50) booked the 8am tour. It was fantastic and the absolute best way to see the mangroves. We have only kayaked once in our lives so we weren’t super experienced but it was not difficult. Our guide slowed down when some of us fell behind (going against the current was more difficult than at the beginning). Going inside the mangroves was the best. We saw many small fish and birds.
