“Our family had a great private tour of Chacchoben with our guide Carlos and driver Gabriel. We had an easy pickup from the port, walking by the hundreds of people who booked the same excursion through the cruiseline as they waited to board coach buses. The private nature of this tour allowed us to take our time, get all the pictures we wanted, and ask lots of questions. Carlos really knows his stuff and made us feel like his own family. After the tour we were offered a stop for some local food and a visit to the beach, however the only reason we declined was to make it to…”

The water was so fresh & pristine. Our lunch tacos were delicious. Everybody really treated us special. Definitely will do it again.”

“Fascinating tour of the ruins. Knowledgeable guide. However, the AC compressor in the ceiling of the bus leaked on our heads the entire ride to the ruins. Unable to sit in those same seats on the return trip, we took our kids' seats, and they sat on our laps the one-hour trip back. We were told that the bus leaves one hour after docking and we waited an additional hour past that time for late comers, which shortened our visit to both locations.”

The water is crystal clear and you get to swim in the lagoon. Our guide brought a local pineapple to eat in the lagoon and we had tequila shots, it was really good fun. The Mayan Ruins were so interesting too. This was a real highlight of the many excursions we had booked during our cruise, it will not disappoint! Thank you so much Chac Ek (especially Carol) for the fab day with with you, we felt very looked after.…”

Snorkel Costa Maya’s reef for turtles, rays, and tropical fish, with gear, photos, beach club access, and a small guided group.

“I did so much research before booking this and have no idea how my experience was so different than others. There was seaweed covering the ocean, more dead fish than alive fish on ocean floor. We saw one small sting ray and one barracuda. That was it. Least eventful snorkeling trip I’ve ever been on. The crew was great and tried their best to help us see what there was out there, but unfortunately, it was a major let down. If I could go back, I wouldn’t have picked this excursion. Also it’s about a 20 minute walk off the port to get to taxi station; then most taxis don’t…”

“Our guide was very knowledgeable of the ruins and Mayan history in general. There is about 30 to 40 min walk to the ruins but some benches available if you need to sit down for a bit. We stopped on the way back at a roadside stand for some honey pineapple that was very good. Bring bug spray because mosquitoes might be an issue. Overall, if you want to learn some history on the area then this trip is for you.”
