Night turns the jungle into an adventure course. Xplor Fuego combines nighttime zip lines, underground rivers, amphibious vehicles, and a buffet dinner in one self-guided evening at Xplor Park near Playa del Carmen. I like the freedom to choose your pace, and I like that food, lockers, helmets, and life jackets are included. The main drawback is time: six hours can feel short when you want to try every activity.

I also like the cool, dramatic setting. You paddle beneath stalactites, swim through cenotes, and finish some zip lines in water, all under the evening sky. Bring proper water shoes, though, because the park involves plenty of walking on wet surfaces and buying footwear on-site can be expensive.

Zip lines finish with a splash: Two seven-line circuits reach speeds of about 18 mph and include water landings.

Underground activities are the heart of the park: You can swim, paddle a raft, and kayak through caves, grottos, and cenotes.

The amphibious vehicles need a valid driver: Only people age 18 or older may drive.

The buffet is part of the admission: Dinner, snacks, coffee, hot chocolate, and flavored waters are included.

The park is self-guided: Signs and staff direct you, but you are not assigned to a guide-led group.

The locker is shared: One locker is provided for two people, so pack light and keep your dry clothes compact.
